Instantly hooked Review by Edwin

This book commences the latest X-Men story, branching off of the HOX/POX crossover. The story continues to build on the 'mutant island' premise introduced in the aforementioned crossover event in a very interesting direction, the geopolitical aspect of the story surprisingly being the most intriguing. Another plus is the reincorporation of more obscure mutants; this is true across all current X-titles. The art is solid, especially by Leinil Yu, who pencils the first 4 issues.
This is a strong recommend as it progresses the X-Men mythos in a drastic yet natural way- meaning that despite the endless implications this new status quo has, it feels within character and not at all forced. I haven't been invested in an X-book in a while but this feels as though it will grow into one of the most engrossing X runs in a while. (Posted on 04/07/2020)
