New to tank girl? this is a sort of scrap book best of collection that you should start with. It gives you an easy overview of what we all love about Tank Girl. Its not a story book but more a carpet swatch book, each page is its own thing and gives you a great idea of what to expect from a full Tank Girl Comic. Stop watching classic Tom Baker Dr Who episodes on UK gold and start reading this! (Posted on 06/03/2019)
I love GOLD! The taste of it, the smell of, the texture... Review by Luke

This story is part two of a trilogy and picks up after Two Girls One Tank. Dig in to this great book and tag along, Giggle, cringe and recoil as Booga takes punishment down the Furry Road and the gang find ways to spend a huge pile of gold bars.

Here’s a quick skim of events to wet your appetite.

The biggest chunk of this story involves the gang spending their hordes of recently acquired gold. This sees the gang inventing a new national sport (you can give it a go once you’ve memorized all the rules) and Making a movie which is a great homage to 50’s teen movies (think of it as American Graffiti in space). All this fun spending the big pile of gold ends up tipping off an old adversary who wants to exact revenge on a certain Girl who drives a Tank. This requires a cunning plan to go analogue and deal with these pesky military types once and for all.

This series contains a rather excellent Jet Girl focussed issue bang in the middle of the run. This fills in a little exposition but it’s handled in a great way using Jet Girl. There’s a about six pages that feature no dialogue at all but accomplishes some amazing visual story telling. Brett knows how to convey sound effects perfectly through his drawing and use of lettering. Who would have though the ‘Thurnk’ of a plane door could sound so cool.

WARNING: The book ends on a rather large cliff hanger and concludes in the the final book of the trilogy ‘World War Tank Girl’ so if you hate cliff hangers I suggest you purchase that book too.

This contains the usual Tank Girl Spirit with some great twists and additions to the Tank Girl Universe. It’s not the first-time Tank Girl has made a movie but it’s great to have it all played out right in front of you.

This book along with the two other stories in the trilogy (two girls one tank & world war tank girl) can be found in the rather excellent ‘Ledged of Tank Girl’ so if you are wanting to purchase the Trilogy in one hit I suggest grabbing that oversized coffee table book.

Two Tank Girls for the price of One! Review by Luke

Strap in and hold on tight, this is the first in a three part story arc.

If you’re an old school fan from the deadline days you’re going to enjoy this one. What happens when an unknown imposter ends up with her tank? Grab your pic n mix and your best comfy bean bag to discover who this strange mystery girl is and why she has Tank Girls tank. This has everything: car/tank chases, explosions, 80’s hair metal, cake (yes cake!!!) silliness and a mystery of an old friend long thought dead.

This is already a bonafide classic and if you’re a regular on this hip thing called ‘social media’ (all the uncool kids are doing it) then you’ll recognise a nice one pager of dialogue that’s been repeatedly twated, ‘gramed and faceslapped:

‘I can’t let things be this way. We can be wonderful we can be magnificent. We can turn this sh*t around.’

Not only is this a great story opener for what I consider a true high point in modern Tank girl but it’s just a pleasure to read full of beautiful art (provided by Brett Parson aka blitzcadet). Alan Martin is and always will be dialled in perfectly to what Tank Girl is and should be, after all he’s the co creator. This story might look new and modern but to a hardened tank girl fan like me I could easily see this being published in Deadline magazine. Fart gags and that wonderful 80’s/90’s humour are in abundance here along with the usual chaotic execution the gang brings to all their adventures.

If you are intending to read all three storys in this arc then I’d recommend picking up ‘The Legend of Tank Girl’ as it includes this story plus, ‘Tank Girl Gold’ and ‘World War Tank Girl’. (Posted on 06/03/2019)
