The perfect start for newcomers to the God of Thunder Review by Ryan

I've never been a huge fan of Thor. I tried getting into the Lee/Kirby 60s stories and the J.M Straczynski run from the early 2000s to no avail. However, having heard about the success of Jason Aaron's run on the title, I decided to give it a go, and I absolutely fell in love with it. To start with, the marriage of Aaron's writing and Esad Ribic's art is something beautiful to behold, as Thor (past, present, and future God of Thunder) is set upon by the debuting Gorr, the God Butcher. This arc, which covers the first eleven issues, is an early highlight that has huge ramifications on Thor's life, and it is easily worth buying the comic just for this.
The second arc concerns Malekith, the Dark Elf sorcerer most commonly associated with the Thor: The Dark World movie, but don't let that put you off. He is done so much better in this comic, and his battle with Thor is only the beginning of build to the 'War of the Realms'. This comic is a must for Thor fans, and a great starting place for anyone who wants to get into reading about him. (Posted on 25/02/2021)
