An incredible set of issues, as Roy Thomas' run nears its end Review by Ryan
This Epic Collection collects some of the best issue of Roy Thomas' time as Avengers writer, with the first appearance of Red Wolf, the Lethal Legion, and the Squadron Supreme! An interesting, if slightly unnecessary, crossover with the Incredible Hulk sees the Avengers take on Psyklop, before the Hulk himself is whisked away to mysterious world of fantasy. To top it off, we get the 'Kree-Skrull War', one of the most popular stories in all of Marvel history. Having never read this before, I was excited to finally see the famous event, and I can confidently say I was not let down. Action, mixed with suspense, humour, and fascinating dialogue. Appearances by Captain Marvel, Annihilus and Ronan the Accuser make this story feel incredibly unique for the time, and the melding of Fantastic Four-like cosmic settings with Avengers-style action really makes this feel special. If that's not enough, this volume contains the start of the Vision/Wanda love arc.
