Potential Classic Review by Hand of Fear
-
Before I went ahead and purchased this book I watched a couple of reviews on YouTube by NearMintCondition and GemMint Collectibles (both are great channels). Mainly because I wasn’t a 100% sure if I would like it, and this was due to the artwork, anyway I went ahead and bought it.
The only criticism I did have was some of the artwork especially from pages 1 to about 150/200, I just felt that it was really flat and dull and lacked any kind of depth to it and when there was more than 2 or 3 characters in a panel it was difficult to make out who was who sometimes. I understand that Gotham is meant to be dark/gritty etc, but later on I did start to enjoy the artwork a lot better. There was a bit more colour to the panels and for me it was more interesting.
I think that what makes this book enjoyable to read are the actual stories and the writing, they did a really good job with these, all of them were different enough to and we have a good mixture of villains. We also get a closer look at the individual lives of the G.C.P.D, and it felt a lot more personal. I’m really glad I went ahead and bought this and this is something I will keep in my collection, and I have a feeling that this particular book will a sought after omnibus in the future.
