Mike Mignola Original Comic Art

Mike Mignola Original Comic Art - Mike Mignola started his career publishing comics in fanzine The Comic Reader at age nineteen in 1981. In 1983 he was employed by Marvel Comics as an inker. In this capacity, he worked on such titles as Power Man & Iron Fist, Masters of Kung-Fu, Daredevil and The Defenders. He eventually got the opportunity to pencil his own short stories in Marvel Fanfare. In 1985 his own comic mini-series Rocket Raccoon was published, while he also contributed to The Incredible Hulk and Alpha Flight. Since 1986, he is an independent artist, working on titles for both Marvel and DC, including the miniseries The Chronicles of Corum (1987-88), Phantom Stranger (1987-88), World of Krypton (with John Byrne, 1987-88), Cosmic Odyssey (with Jim Starlin, 1988), Triumph and Torment (1989), Gotham by Gaslight (1989), Wolverine: the Jungle Adventure (with Walter Simonson, 1990), Ironwolf: Fires of the Revolution (with Howard Chaykin and Alan Moore, 1992), and Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser (1990). Besides his contributions to Marvel and DC, Mignola worked on the comic adaptation of Francis Ford Coppolas'Dracula for Topps Comics (1993), and on Aliens: Salvation with Dave Gibbons for Dark Horse (1993). Halfway through the nineties, he created his own character, the supernatural detective Hellboy, who starred in miniseries and graphic novels published by Dark Horse, in which the artist could display the full range of his talent. Mignola worked with Guillermo Del Toro on a film version of Hellboy, which was released in 2004. He has also participated in other cinema projects, such as Blade 2 and Disney's Atlantis: the Lost Empire.
